COLLEGE EDUCATION
[This letter was written by someone who gave up on government funding years ago.]
"To whom it may concern:
"I have had a problem obtaining enough funds to continue my education for several years. One reason is that I find if I earn enough to pay my mere living expenses--I do not have enough time to study for more than (1) class at night. Another problem I find is that if I wanted to take more than (1) class or to go full time--I am not eligible for sufficient grant funds: I earned a little over poverty level last year which is not enough to save any money for attending college--this amount evidently exceeds the amount permitted for the granting of funds.
"Would you please send a computation breakdown copy or the formula that you use to compute granting funds. The reason that I am asking this request is so that I may be able to calculate and proportion my income-earning time to its most efficient level.
"Since I do not have a college education, I do not have an earning potential that enables me to save--that leaves me in a position to calculate how to earn less money and to receive more grant money--what a system!
"The people who have income support such as parental, marital or otherwise do not have to earn much money because they are able to survive a basic proportion of expenses from someone else's income; and hence, they are eligible for grant money more so than someone who has to earn his mere existence (which places him in a tax level that prevents him from any educational grant funds).
"So the very poor person (below poverty level), and the wealthy person (who has his basic living expenses met from someone else's income) have the economic factors which give them eligibility to grant funds, but the one who tries to earn an honest living and earn college credit simultaneously strives in futility for credit-hour success. I was not approportioned any grant money this year--at this rate it will take me (16 years) years to earn a four-year degree. I have been trying to get the funds to go to college full time for (15) years.
"Wherefore, please send a breakdown of the need analysis computation system or inform me as to how I may learn more about approportioning analysis."
