We may think we know what Biblical marriage is. Most people today probably believe that marriage is about having a ceremony before a church representative or government authorized official, and then being issued with a certificate having the authority of the state. If the state declares that a marriage is valid then it is valid?
That is not how The Lord God defines marriage. We need to go back to the detail of Holy Scripture to see what Biblical marriage really is. Most people, even those claiming to be Christian believers, will have a shock when they look at what The Lord God actually states in Holy Scripture. Jesus stated in Matthew Chapter 5, v 17: "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets ......" He continued from v 17 to 20 to expand on that. The essence of what He said was that the law is still in place until the end of time. This means that the law of Moses still defines marriage, fornication, adultery and divorce. This means that what The Lord God says about all aspects of marriage, and what He wants of us is quite different from what the state lays down today. For instance did you know that God says that only a man may divorce his wife - never may a wife divorce her husband? However, God says that He hates divorce. Once He has joined two flesh beings - a male and a female - let no one put them asunder. Quite different from the general belief today, even amongst supposed Christians, isnt it? What do you think?
